In this guide, I’ll show you how to perform a Rust server wipe or change your map seed using the built-in Wipe Server tool in your FinnishHost Game Panel. This tool makes it fast and safe to reset your server between wipes or updates.
Step 1: Stop the Server
Before wiping, stop your Rust server to avoid any file conflicts. In your FinnishHost panel, click Stop and wait for it to fully shut down.
Step 2: Open the Wipe Tool
From the left menu, select Wipe Server. This opens the wipe configuration window with several options:
- Wipe map? – Deletes the current world map and forces a fresh generation on restart.
- Use random seed – Automatically generates a random new map seed.
- Wipe players and blueprints? – Removes player data, inventories, and blueprint progress.
- Additional files/folders to wipe – Lets you manually list extra files or plugin data to delete.
- Seed list – Enter a custom seed number if you want a specific map layout.
- Remove used seed – Removes the last used seed from your history (optional).
- Update server – Checks for the latest Rust update before restarting after the wipe.
Step 3: Configure Your Wipe
Choose the options you want:
- For a full wipe, enable Wipe map and Wipe players and blueprints.
- For a map-only wipe, select Wipe map only.
- If you want a fresh world seed, enable Use random seed or type a number in the Seed list.
Step 4: Execute the Wipe
When ready, click Execute. TCAdmin will delete the selected data and prepare your server for a clean restart.
Step 5: Start and Verify
Once the wipe completes, click Start to launch your server again. Open the Web Console and look for messages like:
Generating procedural map of size 4000 with seed 12345
This confirms the new map has been created successfully.
Tips
- Wipe schedules vary — most servers wipe monthly or after major Rust updates.
- Keep a backup before a full wipe if you may want to restore old data later.
- To keep blueprints, uncheck Wipe players and blueprints.
Notes
Once you execute a wipe, all selected data is permanently deleted. Make sure to back up any files you want to keep before starting the process.
