In this guide, I’ll show you how to manually back up and restore your ARK: Survival Evolved world using the FinnishHost Game Panel.
Step 1: Manual Backup via File Manager
- Stop the server from the Game Panel before creating a backup.
- Open the File Manager.
- Navigate to
ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArks/. - Select all files ending with
.ark,.arktribe, and.arkprofile. - Click Download to save them to your PC for safekeeping.
Step 2: Restore a Backup
- Stop the server again.
- Upload your saved world files back into the same directory:
ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArks/. - Start the server once the upload is complete.
- Join to confirm the world loads as expected.
Step 3: Optional – Back Up Config Files
To preserve settings and rates, also download:
ShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.iniShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.ini
Step 4: Verify and Test
Start your server and check the Web Console for normal load messages. If errors appear, ensure all necessary files were uploaded correctly.
Notes
We recommend keeping several rotating backups locally. Restoring a backup overwrites your current world and player data — always back up before uploading new save files.
